37-year-old man dies in crash near Red Rock Canyon Open Space

Officers responded to a crash in the area of Ridge Rd. and West Pikes Peak Ave. on Feb. 15.

According to police, a Nissan Rogue was driving southbound through barricades that were closing off Ridge Rd.

The vehicle crashed into a construction crane and all three occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Less than one day later, 37-year-old Joseph D. Quinones died from the injuries he sustained in the crash. Quinones was riding in the backseat of the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash. No charges have been filed, and alcohol is not believed to a factor at this time.

Quinones’ death marks the sixth traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2019.
