Overnight snow made for slick road conditions in Southern Colorado
Returning snowfall made for a dangerous morning commute Monday as both Fountain and Colorado Springs went on accident alert.
One driver, Lisa Ferrell said, “I’ve just gotten out, the side roads are snow and I’ve just been taking it easy and I’ve got it in four-wheel drive.”
To help with the morning commute, plows were out in full force.
“I guess they can only do so much if there is so much snow,” said Vincent Daily.
Ross Parker, who drives for FedEx, said it’s days like Monday that always concern him.
“You know we just take it slow and as long as we feel safe on the roads we will go ahead and try to give it a shot. We just kind of play it road by road and listen to our dispatch,” Parker said.
And Parker has a message for other drivers, saying, “Just slow down, give vehicles plenty of space, especially for us. We cannot stop as fast as other cars do, [we] need a lot more space.”
Due to the awful conditions, we saw several slide-offs Monday morning. And with another storm on the way, it’s important you take it as slow as possible out on the roads.
