Hickenlooper talks to New Hampshire voters about possible run for President

Former Governor John Hickenlooper spent the days leading up to Valentine’s Day, “courting” voters in New Hampshire.

He spoke to a large group about his family, moving to Colorado, and how he got into politics. D iscussing some of the current issues like healthcare. He says a big issue government has now, is not listening to the people and starting fights with others across the aisle. “Part of the what the country needs is and I think this is really true, the government has to relearn how to serve people,” says Hickenlooper.

If the former governor decides to run for president, he would go up against more than ten other democratic candidates. What he says is his political record and his ability to bring opposing sides together is what sets him apart. “Why I’m so attracted to running for president is I don’t see anyone else out there who actually has a record of repeated examples of where they bring people together,” says Hickenlooper, “[I] got them to lay down their weapons and then achieved progressive goals.”

When asked for specifics on just how he plans to sway conservative voters, H ickenlooper cited honest abe as an inspiration. “Lincoln said when he walked away from a meeting one time, he says, ‘I don’t like that guy, I need to get to know him better.”

This is not going to be the last time Hickenlooper speaks to people in New Hampshire and other neighboring states before he makes his announcement in the next few weeks.
