Police investigating officer-involved shooting at Colorado Springs apartment complex
Update: The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man involved in an officer-involved shooting that happened Wednesday night in the 2500 block of Verde Drive.
Authorities arrested 32-year-old Thomas McGeorge. McGeorge has been booked into the Criminal Justice Center on the charges of felony menacing, third-degree assault, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
Officer Max Nevarez and Officer Matthew Waldera with the Colorado Springs Police Department were the officers involved in the shooting.
The El Paso County Deadly Force Investigation Team will be investigating the incident.

Police responded to an officer-involved shooting near the Mountain Ridge apartment complex at S. Circle Drive and Verde Drive.
We’re told police received word of multiple shots were being fired by an individual near the area, eventually calling the police to the scene.
Jared Fontaine, a resident of the apartments heard from neighbors, who said they watched eight people get brought out of the apartment.
When seeing the heavy police presence, Fontaine said, “I knew it had to be gunshots right away.”
Not much other information is known at this time, other than one person was injured and sent to the hospital, now facing nonlife-threatening injuries.
Lieutenant Howard Black with the Colorado Springs Police Department said, “Our officers responded into the scene. They made contact with an individual at least one shot was fired by CSPD.”
It has been confirmed that police are not looking for a suspect at this time and authorities are turning the case over to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Jackie Kirby, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office said their part of the investigation was just beginning.
“We’ve got to get detectives out here, we’ve got to get our mobile command post, we’ve got to get our mobile crime lab to help process the evidence,” said Kirby.
