I-25 South Gap Project to take longer than expected
Construction for the I-25 South Gap project will take longer than expected due to unforeseen circumstances.
The South Gap project stretches 18 miles between Monument and Castle Rock. The project is split into three geographic sections – north, middle and south.
One lane will be added in each direction, the lane will be tolled. Two general purpose lanes will remain free.
KDVR reports construction will now be completed in 2022 instead of 2021. CDOT says the work is expected to take longer because of unforeseen problems with aging pavement that was in worse shape than previously believed.
The delay in construction will not increase the $350 million price tag of the project.
