Scientists expect a cure for cancer in one year
Scientists in Israel announced this week they expect to have a cure for cancer within a year.
According to The Jerusalem Post, a new treatment called MuTaTo would work more like a “cancer antibiotic.”
Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies CEO Dr. Ilan Morad told the news outlet the treatment uses “cancer-targeting peptides for each cancer cell at the same time combined with a strong peptide toxin that would kill cancer cells specifically.”
The scientists say not only will it be an effective cure from day one, but it would also be a cheap and brief option. Side effects, according to the scientists, would be reduced compared to the sickening side effects of most cancer treatments, Morad said.
The patient would be given the exact amount of molecule cocktail needed to cure the disease, Morad explained.
Here are some statistics about cancer, according to the National Cancer Institute:
Cancer is among the leading causes of death worldwide. In 2012, there were 14.1 million new cases and 8.2 million cancer-related deaths worldwide. 57% of new cancer cases in 2012 occurred in less developed regions of the world that include Central America and parts of Africa and Asia; 65% of cancer deaths also occurred in these regions. The number of new cancer cases per year is expected to rise to 23.6 million by 2030.
