Don’t puff your car: law enforcement cracks down on unattended cars left running

As the colder weather approaches, officials are warning the public about leaving your car running while unattended.

Puffing, or leaving your car sitting while the ignition is still on, can cost you a $60 fine in Colorado during law enforcement week, which started Sunday.

You may have seen the signs go up around Colorado Springs this week. A lot of them read, ” Don’t puff your car…theives like cars running unattended.”

Colorado law enforcement is in collaboration with Coloradans Against Auto Theft from Jan. 27 – Feb. 2 for “Puffer Week.” The goal of the initiative is to raise awareness for, what could be, a 100-percent preventable crime.

If you are caught with your car running throughout the week of Jan. 27 to Feb. 2, you could face up to a $60 fine.
