Colorado Parks & Wildlife to conduct deer count Monday

Colorado Parks and Wildlife, as well as volunteers, will fan out across Colorado Springs Monday, January 28, 2019, to conduct a deer count.

It’s all part of an ongoing conversation with the city council about how to manage deer populations. The first team will start their count 6 a.m. Monday morning and will concentrate on the west side of the city.

The second count starts at 1 p.m. with teams focusing on the eastern side of Colorado Springs. For now, the council has postponed efforts to reduce the deer population.

The city will spend the next two years taking a more complete count of deer across the city and then reconsider the idea of a management plan.
