Vehicle in Fort Collins fatal crash was used in theft of guns

Authorities say a stolen vehicle involved in a fatal collision in northern Colorado was used to crash into a pawn shop and steal guns a few hours earlier.

Fort Collins police said Friday 19-year-old Marcos Orozco was arrested on suspicion of burglary, eluding and motor vehicle theft in connection with the break-in. They say more charges are possible pending the outcome of the investigation into the wreck.

The crash killed two people. Their names haven’t been released.

Jail records didn’t indicate whether Orozco had a lawyer.

The break-in occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday. About six hours later, a caller alerted police to the location of a suspicious vehicle with guns inside, but it drove away when officers tried to speak to the driver.

The fatal crash occurred a short time later.
