Nam & Eggs – Why it may not be easy to fire Vance Joseph

Finally, it’s time for another serving of Nam & Eggs. I posted a question on my Facebook (Rob Namnoum KRDO) and Twitter (@robnamnoumkrdo) pages. If the Broncos finish the season with an eight and eight record will Vance Joseph get fired? Simple Yes or no answer. Overwhelmingly people voted yes.

The reason why I posted this question is because the Broncos are currently four and six. I believe they will finish the year eight and eight, possibly nine and seven that may make it more difficult for John Elway to fire Joseph.

I know most Broncos fans cannot wait for the season to end so Joseph will receive his walking papers bue hear me out.

I don’t think the Broncos will beat the Steelers on Sunday but after that they have four winnable games. They play the Bengals, Niners, Browns and Raiders. They also finish the season at home against the Chargers and the Bolts might have a playoff spot and seeding already locked up so they may not be playing for anything.

So if the Broncos finish the season winning five or six games out of their last seven, should they still fire Joseph? Most Broncos fans will shout from the mountain tops yes!

Here’s the thing, Joseph is coaching the third youngest team in the NFL and he has been able to get his team to play hard even though they have a losing record. The other thing is they care about winning and he hasn’t lost the locker room. When Brandon McManus lined up to kick the game winning field goal on Sunday, the team took a knee in unison, as they held hands or locked arms with the hopes of a victory like a playoff spot was on the line.

Hey, I’m not saying Joseph won’t be fired or that he is the second coming of Bill Belichick and you can certainly question some of the moves he makes during games but he hasn’t lost the team and a lot can be said for that.

Even if Joseph is shown the door on New Year’s Eve, it may not matter in the AFC West because the Kansas City Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes playing quarterback and the Broncos do not.
