Colorado Springs police arrest suspect involved in fatal hit and run crash

Police arrested a man involved in a fatal hit and run crash that happened on Halloween night at the intersection of Academy Blvd. and Austin Bluffs Pkwy.

After an investigation, it was discovered that 44-year-old Christopher Seal was attempting to walk across North Academy Blvd. westbound when he was struck by 26-year-old Robert Valencia who was driving a sedan. Valencia then left the scene traveling southbound on Academy Blvd.

Officers and detectives continued to investigate the fatal crash and were ultimately led to the suspect vehicle on Nov. 1. Police identified Valencia shortly after and took him into custody.

Valencia will be charged with one count of accidents involving death, a class 3 felony.

CSPD thanked the community for help in the investigation.

The crash was the 44th auto-related fatality in Colorado Springs this year and broke the all-time record, which was previously set in 1986.
