Many questions remain on Operation Faithful Patriot

The President’s announcement comes a day after learning soldiers from Fort Carson and Airmen from Peterson will be a part of Operation Faithful Patriot along the border.

Their task is to help stop the caravan of migrants looking to make it into the country. President Trump continues to tighten up on immigration.

“We’re going to no longer release. We’re going to catch. We’re not going to release,” said President Donald Trump.

Soldiers from more than a dozen military installation across the country are now aiding border patrol, along with forces from Fort Carson and Peterson Air Force Base, so we asked Senator Cory Gardner for his take on the mission.

“Something I support is having a system of immigration that works. That we don’t reward bad behavior but create a system that actually works and that’s what I’m going to continue to work for,” Senator Gardner said.

We know the troops will be helping Border Patrol as this caravan makes its way to the border of the United States, but the exact number of troops from these bases being sent near the border is still in question.

The initial estimate from the Department of Defense says there will be more than 7,000 troops. President Trump has thrown out numbers as high as 15,000

This mission has become quite controversial — but Senator Gardner says he’s working on ways to increase unity.

“Obviously all presidents, Trump, Obama, Bush have all utilized various parts of their tools to help secure the border but what I’m going to continue to look for is ways to work together to create security,” said Senator Gardner.

Troops have already made their way to the border and some are yet to deploy.
