Halloween snow for people in Monument
The Halloween snow started off in Monument early Wednesday morning, making for an icy and slushy start to the day for many people traveling up and down the Interstate 25 corridor.
“It’s pretty slippery coming down from the pass. I’m coming down from black forest,” said one commuter.
The weather allowed for spooky Halloween decorations to take cover under a fresh blanket of snow.
“This is the first year I have to shovel my yard … so I can get my animatronics out for tonight,” said Kurt Olgren.
“We have a lot of stuff in the garage we do too so it’s just kind of all over the whole property,” said Don Fear, who has a very appropriate name for a Halloween enthusiast.
But their neighbors take safety seriously too, especially when it comes to trick-or-treaters.
“I’m going to keep hitting it with the shovel today and I actually have a torch as well so I’ll make sure that any ice that accumulates we blast that as well and I’m just going keep checking it,” Olgren told us.
Make sure your kiddos have bright clothing on if they are running through the streets after dark.
