Hiring Abilities Career Fair in Colorado Springs

October is disability awareness month and in honor of that, Tuesday, the Pikes Peak Workforce Center hosted the Abilities Career Fair at Hotel Elegante.

Tuesday afternoon, people with disabilities had the chance to come out and meet with employers. The fair wasn’t just an opportunity for job seekers, but employers looking to fill positions as well.

With over 35 employers, Jody Romero was especially optimistic about landing a job.

“I’m here to bring another source of income to my house. The best case, I get a job today and can start tomorrow,” Romero said.

This is the third year the fair took place at Hotel Elegante and it appears to be the most successful year yet.

This event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of The Pikes Peak Workforce Center, The Independence Center, Colorado Springs Utilities, the City of Colorado Springs, and Colorado Department of Labor and employment-division of vocational rehabilitation.

The Abilities Career Fair ends Tuesday at 4 p.m.
