City of Colorado Springs hosts town hall to get feedback on goals to address homelessness
The City of Colorado Springs held another town hall Thursday night to get feedback on their 2019 Action Plan for Homelessness Response.
The plan is made up of eight goals to help with homeless issues in the city, like adding more low barrier shelter beds, increasing staff to clean up homeless camps, and developing new programs like Homeless Outreach Court and a Veteran’s Incentive Fund.
Several people at the meeting said they think the plan is a good start, but hope there’s follow through.
“It seems pretty comprehensive, I don’t know whether they can get all that done in one year but I think it’s a good starting point,” Karen Lareaux said.
“They have to make sure the rents that they’re setting for the affordable housing is actually affordable,” Renee Anderson said.
The city is going to have four more meetings now through December to get feedback on the goals for 2019.
