SWAT responds to hostage situation at Boulder hair salon

An armed man held people hostage inside a hair salon in Boulder Wednesday morning.

Boulder police and SWAT were called to the Hair Rage International salon (MAP) around 10:15 a.m., according to our partners at Denver7. Police said there are possibly two women being held inside the salon by a man armed with a gun but did confirm that there were multiple hostages.

Bomb technicians and SWAT officers were on the phone with the man by about 10:45 a.m.

Shortly before 1 p.m., the man was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

The surrounding businesses were evacuated while the standoff was ongoing, police said.
