Denver Broncos backup quarterback Chad Kelly was arrested for trespassing early Tuesday morning.
According to the Englewood Police Department, a caller reported that a man was outside a house in the 3200 block of S. Lincoln Street at about 1:15 a.m. While officers were on their way, the man reportedly entered the house before being chased out by someone inside.
Police interviewed one of the occupants, who said Kelly sat down on the couch next to a woman and began “mumbling incoherently.” That’s when the resident confronted Kelly and hit him with a plastic vacuum tube to chase him out.
Officers began searching the area and found Kelly in an SUV near the Gothic Theatre, which is close to the residence, and he matched the description of the alleged trespasser. The resident at the house also positively identified Kelly as the same person who entered the house without permission.
Kelly was booked into the Arapahoe County Jail on a charge of first-degree criminal trespass.
The Broncos released the following statement Tuesday:
We are disappointed that Chad Kelly was arrested early this morning. Our organization has been in contact with Chad, and we are in the process of gathering more information.
