Kavanaugh hearing Thursday reminiscent of Anita Hill testimony
Given Thursday’s events as Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford testified, some say it’s reminiscent of when Anita Hill testified when Justice Clarence Thomas was being confirmed to the Supreme Court.
Hill underwent days of testimony surrounding what she claimed were sexually harassing comments made by Thomas.
Dr. Ford testified for just hours regarding sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh.
People in downtown Colorado Springs reflected on the correlations between the two hearings.
“I think more people are watching this now, and there’s more division between Democrats and Republicans and that’s amplified all this,” Guy Akins said.
“I didn’t remember watching the whole hearing and it went on for quite a while unlike today, which was just one day,” Patrick Miller said.
Kavanaugh is looking to gain a seat vacated by a retiring justice, just like Clarence Thomas was. Thomas was eventually confirmed by the Senate 52-48.
