Murder charges filed against Denver boy’s 16-year-old aunt
The 16-year-old girl accused of killing 7-year-old Jordan Vong has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and felony child abuse.
Prosecutors made the announcement Monday after the girl was arrested last Wednesday, according to our partners at Denver7 . Vong’s body was found inside his home in Montebello Tuesday. His cause of death still hasn’t been released.
The girl’s identity won’t be released until the filed charges are accepted by the clerk, according to Denver7. She was confirmed to be the boy’s aunt and lived in the same house, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
Police said the boy’s body was intentionally concealed and was first reported missing Monday afternoon. The DA’s office said he was found wrapped in a blanket hidden in a portable closet in the girl’s basement bedroom.

A 16-year-old girl is being investigated in the death of a 7-year-old boy who was reported missing in Denver on Monday.
Police found the body of Jordan Vong hidden in his family’s home Tuesday night and took the teenage girl into custody for investigation of first-degree murder. Joe Montoya, division chief of investigations, said Wednesday that the coroner’s office will determine a cause and manner of death, and the district attorney’s office will decide if charges should be filed.
He declined to release any information about the girl or her relationship to Jordan.
Police scoured Jordan’s neighborhood on the eastern edge of the city and went through the home twice before securing a warrant for a more thorough search. That search turned up the body.
Montoya would not say where the body was found or what condition it was in.
