Fountain celebrates usable groundwater 2 years after contamination

People in Fountain are celebrating the fact they can now use groundwater again after years of concerns over chemical contamination.

To mark the milestone, a ceremony, where two out of four new water filters are housed.

The filters helped lower the levels of toxic chemicals, making it safe to drink and use.

But even with the new filters, many residents are still skeptical about how clean their water really is.

“When I can get in the shower and not come out dry looking and all then I will probably start trusting it,” said Lady Thomas who has family in Fountain.

“If authorities say it’s alright, I don’t think we have reasons to doubt that,” said Rodrigo Borguetti, who moved to Fountain six months ago.

Weekly testing results will be available for anyone to view on the city of Fountain website.
