UPDATE: Trial date set for former Fremont County deputy

Robert Dodd retired from office in April of 2017. A month later, he was charged with official misconduct after evidence from a 2006 murder case was discovered in a storage unit he once possessed in Canon City, after he stopped paying the rent for it.

The evidence was discovered in December of 2016; ten years after the case which involved the shooting death of 17-year-old Candace Hiltz.

It included a shell casing, a hatchet, bloody socks and a rope.

Dodd is charged with misdemeanor possession of an identification document and abuse of public records along with official misconduct.

His trial is scheduled to start on June 25.
