Colorado Springs School District 11 decides on new superintendent
School District 11 in Colorado Springs announced Monday that an offer was made to Michael Thomas to become the new superintendent.
Thomas is currently the Chief of Academics, Leadership, and Learning for Minneapolis Public Schools and previously served as superintendent for the district.
Negotiations still need to happen before the offer is finalized, but Thomas would replace outgoing superintendent Dr. Nicholas Gledich, who announced his retirement this year.
The district says the decision was made to offer Thomas the position after an extensive interview process that included a public forum and online survey to obtain public feedback.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of St. Thomas and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Minnesota. He’s expected to receive his doctorate in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas this summer.
Gledich will officially retire later this month. No start date for Thomas has been set yet.
