Colorado primary ballots shipped out; unaffiliated voters get more choices
Close to 375,000 ballots have been shipped off to voters in El Paso County, but this primary election in Colorado is unlike any other for one reason.
“This is the first year in which unaffiliated voters can vote in a partisan primary,” said Chuck Boerman, El Paso County Clerk and Recorder.
About 140,000 of those ballots will be going to unaffiliated voters — two ballots will arrive in the mail for anyone registered as unaffiliated, and the voter will choose one to fill out and file.
Ballot boxes are now open as the early bird will begin to trickle in.
Ballots should arrive by Thursday or Friday. They are due back by June 26.
