Sunny and hot today – 5/31/18
TODAY: Skies will be mostly across Southern Colorado. For what feels like a long time, we aren’t forecasting storms this afternoon! Fire danger will be on the higher side through the Pikes Peak Region, due to times of breezy conditions and hot temperatures. Red Flag Warnings are in place for the San Luis Valley, the Sangres and the Wets from 12PM until 9PM tonight. Highs warm into the 80s and 90s in the lower elevations and 70s in the mountains.
TONIGHT: We will be mostly clear tonight and not as breezy. Lows will cool to the 50s in the lower terrain with 40s in the mountains.
EXTENDED: Tomorrow, the I-25 corridor and Raton Mesa is under a fire weather watch. These could be upgraded to Red Flag Warnings. A wind alert level 1 is also in place due to wind gusts in the 30s tomorrow. Temperatures will be even warmer tomorrow, before cooler air moves in for the weekend. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s by Saturday. That lasts into Sunday and will come with fairly widespread showers and storms.
