Man has eye socket fractured by foul ball at Rockies game

Forget peanuts and Cracker Jack, one man had his eye socket cracked by a foul ball at a Colorado Rockies baseball game Sunday night.

Andy Taylor is in good spirits, despite a picture he posted to Facebook showing a grisly scene on his face after the game.

According to our partners at Denver7, Taylor was in Section 147 in the 13th row when the pop fly came hurtling his way in the sixth inning. Taylor tried catching it, but it slipped through his hands and hit him in the right eye.

Taylor was taken to the Denver Health Medical Center for treatment, but he said the eye itself wasn’t damaged. He’s going to have surgery to rebuild the orbital socket, according to his Facebook page.

While the Rockies aren’t legally liable for the damage, the team has reached out to Taylor and offered to host him for Wednesday’s game against the San Francisco Giants.
