Territory Days boosts local businesses in Old Colorado City
Territory Days in Old Colorado City continued to bring a massive crowd Sunday, which has helped out local businesses.
The streets were packed as the festival took over Colorado Ave.
The street was filled with vendors lined up in tents, but it was those who have their shop there year-round who were soaking up the extra foot traffic.
“It’s bringing a lot of people in that just didn’t know we were here,” Maria Uribe said.
Maria Uribe and Rick Uribe own The British Panty and Tea Room in Old Colorado City.
They’ve been preparing for the weekend for some time.
“We had our kitchen staff prepare a lot of extra items to sell in the tea room,” Rick Uribe said. “Of course we overstocked the shop here for all the goodies people want to buy.”
Shop owners said Territory Days is one of the biggest events for business of the summer season.
“Most weekends in the summer are good, but this is definitely the strong point,” Terry Sharpton said.
Sharpton’s wife owns Santa Fe Springs Gifts in Old Colorado City.
The shop has been at the location for more than 23 years.
“We get a lot of repeat traffic, they come and see us every year,” Sharpton said.
Sharpton added the number of people taking over the streets is needed to support small businesses in the area.
“This is probably a good boom for the local economy,” Sharpton said.
