View of the Thunderbirds from the ‘cheap seats’
It’s become a separate tradition all its own. For those who were not in Falcon Stadium during the Thunderbirds flyover, many were still able to get a great view just east of the interstate.
Hundreds of people woke up bright and early to find the perfect spot to see the Thunderbirds. Bringing their lawn chairs, food, drinks and more to enjoy the show, tailgate style. Some saying the best part is not having to deal with the crowds at Falcon Stadium.
While the seats might not be front row, Karen Simon who has seen the flyover for the past five years says the view was amazing, “This is a great spot because you are right straight across from the stadium and it gives you a really great view.” Another tailgater agrees. Chris Ellis says this was his first time watching the Thunderbirds and he plans on coming back again next year, “If these are the cheap seats I’m coming back here again, it’s free entertainment and you can’t beat it. it’s perfect.”
The Thunderbirds flew above the crowd multiple times, giving these spectators a great show. “I loved it, I always think it’s super amazing and it’s kind of mind-blowing how many tricks they can do,” says Emily Ellis.
For some, it was their first time with the Thunderbird tailgate experience, but they say after today’s performance, they will be back again even earlier next year.
