Man dies after stealing, crashing motorcycle in Pueblo West
A stolen motorcycle in Pueblo West was found minutes later at the scene of a fatal crash Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office says the 44-year-old driver was speeding along Enterprise and Aerospace Drives after stealing the bike from a business.
That’s when he lost control and hit a mound of dirt, the sheriff’s office said.
Both the driver and his passenger were thrown several feet, but only the woman survived.
Chuck Galinvaux works at the dealership the bike was stolen from and was heading there when he saw the aftermath of the crash.
“[I] saw a bunch of emergency vehicles down the road about a mile and half. I could see the bike had gone through a barricaded fence gone over a dirt berm and I could see bodies laying there in the dirt,” he said.
Galinvaux says the stolen motorcycle was worth $12,000 but will be covered by insurance. The names of those involved have not been released.
