Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Cool Start To The Weekend! – 5/19/18
Today: More clouds than sun for many areas today, breezy at times and cool. We’ve had some low clouds and light rain at times this morning over northern parts of our coverage area, and it appears that northern areas will have the best coverage of showers today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous for more areas this afternoon, and over the mountains it may be cold enough for some snowflakes to fall at times. Storms today aren’t likely to be severe, but some areas could briefly receive downpours, small hail, frequent lightning and gusty wind. Cool with high temperatures in the 50s and 60s for most areas on the plains, only 40s to lower 50s for the mountains.
Tonight: Any evening showers and thunderstorms (and mountain snow showers) will decrease in coverage, then pockets of low cloud cover, patchy fog and possibly some drizzle or light rain will remain possible through the night. We expect low temperatures in the 30s and 40s area wide.
Extended: Sunday may start out cloudy, foggy or a little damp for some areas, but as a whole we expect more areas to see more of the sun on Sunday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely develop again Sunday afternoon, but we don’t expect severe thunderstorms to be a great threat. Not as cool Sunday afternoon with high temperatures in the 50s for the mountains, 60s and 70s for the plains. The warming trend will continue into next week with the air warming into the 70s and 80s for the plains, mainly 60s to lower 70s over the mountains for most days. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will become less numerous, but we do expect them at times for some areas. Over the mountains severe weather isn’t likely, but a few strong storms could develop over the plains mainly east of I-25 at times. We also expect the wind to pick up through the week.
