Scattered storms today – 05/14/18
Today: We’re starting off the day with low clouds and areas of rain. This is due to some upslope easterly winds that have developed behind a cold front that swept through the area overnight. That same cold front will drop temperatures today. Highs will only range in the 60s and 70s with afternoon. Any low clouds clear mid-morning giving way to partly sunny skies. Later this afternoon and evening, a few strong-to-severe storms could develop (especially along I-70 east of Denver). Large hail will be the biggest threat.
Tonight: Overnight, some low-lying clouds could redevelop. Lows drop to the 40s. Pockets of rain could continue into early Tuesday morning. However, storms should be decreasing in strength.
Extended: Temperatures remain cool on Tuesday. Scattered storms are possible once again tomorrow; however, storms don’t appear to be as strong as what we could see this afternoon. On Wednesday for the eastern plains, we could be dealing with a few severe storms with large hail and gusty winds. We’ll track it! Beyond that, we’re expecting a warm-up by Wednesday with highs in the 70s and 80s. Friday and into this upcoming weekend, storms increase in coverage and intensity. Stick with us for more!
