Pueblo teachers voting on offer that could end D60 strike
In a joint statement from Pueblo’s District 60, Pueblo Education Association (PEA), and the Pueblo Paraprofessional Education Association (PPEA), officials say they have reached a “tentative” agreement that could bring closure to the current strike situation. PEA officials say they have put the following offer to their teachers to vote on. Voting closes at 5 p.m. Sunday.
If the offer is accepted by teachers, Pueblo city schools could reopen on Monday.
Throughout the negotiation process on Saturday, the unions and the district say they worked diligently to find common ground.
A new offer was presented from the district to the unions, which includes the following:
PEA:
For 2017-2018
· 2% COLA RETRO to January 2018
· 5 Strike Days – 2 excused leave, 3 days covered by the district (teachers will be provided the opportunity to work 2 additional days beyond their contract in lieu of using 2 excused leave days or any combination thereof)
For 2018-2019
· STEP for teachers – September 1
· 2.5% COLA – September 1
· $50 towards health insurance – total of $520 – September 1
Memorandum of Understanding for four-day week to address necessary changes.
Collective bargaining agreement in place through August 31 , 2019. This offer settles 2018-2019.
PPEA:
For 2017-2018
· 5 Strike Days – 2 excused leave, 3 days covered by the district (ParaPros will be provided the opportunity to work 2 additional days beyond their contract in lieu of using 2 excused leave days or any combination thereof)
For 2018-2019
· $500 one time money – June 2018
· 2 Steps – September 1 , 2018
· $50 towards health insurance – total of $520 – September 1
· 3.25% COLA – September 1 , 2018 (1% for 2017-2018, 2.25 % for 2018-2019)
