More than $100M allocated for Fort Carson projects in 2018 NDAA

Fort Carson will be getting about $100 million for new projects as part of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act.

Rep. Doug Lamborn of Colorado’s 5th Congressional District told KRDO Friday that the final bill has about $103 million set aside for construction projects at the Mountain Post.

Back in December, we reported when the NDAA first slated about $40 million for new projects at the post. Those numbers included plans for an ammunition supply point and a new weather facility. This year, more than $100M is marked by the chairman for different projects like a Vehicle Maintenance Shop, Human Performance Training Center and a mountaineering facility.

The Air Force Academy is also due to get an influx of cash for its CyberWorx program, including the construction of a large facility that will allow them to have up to 10 simultaneous projects in campus studios and maker spaces.

Lamborn said the money would be a big boon for the Colorado Springs military community.
