Fire danger, record warmth likely – 5/10/18

TODAY: Skies will be partly cloudy today and our afternoon highs in the 80s and 90s will be at or near records. Mountain cities will feel the 70s today. Things will be breezy so a wind alert level 1 is in place. Gusts could be as high as 35 mph. Dry fuels, low relative humidity and this wind mean the fire danger is high. Red flag warnings will be in place fromm 11am until 9pm tonight.

TONIGHT: We will be mostly clear to partly cloudy tonight. Winds won’t be as strong and overnight lows cool into the 40s and 50s.

EXTENDED: Tomorrow brings another day of possible high fire danger. Fire weather watches are out for all of Southern Colorado, along with a wind alert level 1. Things will still be quite warm tomorrow with more highs in the 70s, 80s and 90s. We will start to increase the shower chances a bit as we go into Mothers Day Weekend. Though a raindrop or two is possible both Saturday and Sunday, better rain and storm chances hold off until the first part of next week.
