Warmer Weather Ahead 5-8-18
TONIGHT: Mostly clear skies continue overnight with light winds. Clear skies will allow temps to cool slightly with lows in the 40s and 50s by early tomorrow morning.
TOMORROW: Wednesday is another pleasant spring day with warm temps. Highs return to the 70s and 80s. A few places in the Southeast Plains reach the 90s. Skies start mostly sunny but clouds build over the mountains for the afternoon. These clouds then spread east to the plains by evening. A few isolated storms will be possible over the eastern mountains and I-25 corridor and near the Colorado and Kansas border. Most areas stay dry with light southeast winds.
EXTENDED: Isolated storms will remain possible again Thursday and Friday with warm temps continuing. Thursday may be the warmest day with temps well into the 80s and even 90s. Winds begin to increase by Thursday and Friday and this will bring fire danger to near critical levels. A Fire Weather Watch is already issued for Thursday for Teller County and the Rampart Range. Temps will be slightly cooler on Friday but the bigger cool down arrives for Saturday and Sunday. Cooler weather moves in with chances for showers and storms through the weekend. Some snowflakes are also likely to mix in with rain in some of our mountain locations, especially in Teller County.
