Oh, deer! Manitou Springs baseball game fazed by fauna

A high school baseball game between the Manitou Springs Mustangs and rival St. Mary’s Pirates was interrupted Tuesday by a couple of local residents.

Two deer meandered onto the field at Manitou Springs High School, according to CHSAANow, and the top of the sixth inning turned into a game of chase.

Manitou Springs shortstop Joey Allen waved them to the fence while the school’s coach and athletic director worked with others to lead the deer out through a side gate.

It’s also not the first time the Mustangs have had to face off with local wildlife.

The guests didn’t provide enough of a distraction for the Pirates, however, as they would go on to beat Manitou Springs 5-2.
