Colorado Springs man killed in crash in Nebraska

A Colorado Springs man was killed in a massive crash Sunday afternoon, on Interstate 80 in central Nebraska.

Nebraska State Patrol says high winds kicked up dust from nearby fields and created zero-visibility conditions. The dust created a crash involving nearly 30 vehicles.

Franklin Owens, 81, was life-flighted to a hospital in Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead. His wife Betty, 68, was seriously injured and transported to the hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

More than a dozen others were injured. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Interstate 80 was closed for more than two hours after the crash.
