Man arrested in Pueblo after deputies say he lead them on a chase in a stolen truck
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office say a 28-year-old man is in custody after leading deputies on a chase in a stolen truck.
The suspect, arrested early Saturday morning, was identified as Robert Matthew Arnold.
Deputies say they spotted Arnold driving the stolen 2016 MGC truck near the intersection of Fourth and Santa Fe in Pueblo just after 2 a.m.
The truck had been reported stolen earlier from a residence in the 5000 block of Wild Hog Lane in Colorado City.
Deputies tracked the truck using a GPS tracking device.
When law enforcement spotted the truck, they tried to stop it, and deputies say Arnold put the truck in reverse and drove it eastbound, backwards, for about 2 and a half blocks before crashing into the Rampart Supply building at 320 E. Fourth Street.
The brick building sustained moderate damage and the truck was seriously damaged. No one was injured.
Deputies arrested Arnold after a foot pursuit.
When Arnold was taken into custody, they found him in possession of a stolen handgun.
Arnold was booked into Pueblo County Jail, and is facing charges of first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, violation of a protection order, attempting to elude a peace officer, and driving under revocation.
