Man with previous driving convictions to serve 40 years for hitting, killing 22-year-old in Colorado
A man was sentenced to 40 years in prison last week after he hit and killed a 22-year-old with his vehicle in Aurora.
Dalton McCreary and a friend were crossing the road on August 21, 2016, when Christopher Tarr, 42, ran a red light in his Toyota 4-Runner going 67 mph in a 40 mph zone and hit McCreary.
McCreary was pronounced dead at the scene, and his friend was treated for minor injuries.
According to KDVR, Tarr tried to leave the scene of the crash, and his blood alcohol content at the time of the incident was measured to be between 0.30 to 0.32.
He was found guilty of second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, DUI, reckless driving, careless driving and two counts of vehicular homicide.
And this wasn’t his first offense made behind the wheel. In 1996, he pleaded guilty to operation of an unsafe vehicle. In 2010, he pleaded guilty to DUI and careless driving. In 2013, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving.
