Family dog found shot to death at home in Colorado
A family came home to find their yellow lab lying dead in their living room with a gunshot wound to the chest earlier this week.
The Aspen Times reported that surveillance footage from the family’s property located off Highway 133 near Crystal River Valley showed two shots were fired: one was a misfire from a revolver and the second one that hit the family dog, Otis, came from a .22 rifle.
Owners Kristen and Tom told The Aspen Times that the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office had arrested a minor in connection with the investigation. However, authorities have not confirmed that directly to the media.
The couple went on to say that a 13-year-old was wanted by law enforcement after running from Garfield County Court prior to the shooting. The teen then allegedly broke into a house, stole a revolver and rifle, and then hitchhiked along Highway 133.
