Colorado Springs police, FBI arrest man for shooting at 2 people
Residents at the Vista Peak apartment complex watched Wednesday evening as a 25-year-old man was taken into custody by Colorado Springs police and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force for shooting at two people in a vehicle earlier this month.
CSPD says Zackery Joel Applegate was wanted for shooting at the victim’s vehicle multiple times near Mallard Drive and Fountain Blvd.
Police didn’t say if the driver or passenger in the vehicle were hit.
At least a dozen officers descended on the apartment complex near Mitchell High School with guns drawn when Applegate was taken into custody. Glass could be seen in the parking lot where the window of one vehicle was busted out.
Police didn’t provide any more details about Applegate’s arrest.
Applegate was in court Friday afternoon for an advisement hearing and was charged with attempted murder. His bond was set at $50,000.
