That smoke south of Colorado Springs is probably a controlled burn at Fort Carson
For the next few months, there’s a good chance that any smoke you see billowing into the sky south of Colorado Springs is coming from Fort Carson.
The post says it will be conducting prescribed burns from Thursday until April 30, but they hope to minimize the smoke’s impact by planning burns for days with good weather conditions.
About 3,000 acres of land will be burned, and officials say it’s an effort to reduce wildfire danger. The burns will be conducted in coordination with El Paso and Las Animas counties.
