CSP arrests man with mortar round in his vehicle off Hwy 24
A portion of Highway 24 in Elbert County was shut down for a couple hours on Wednesday while authorities investigated a mortar round found in a vehicle.
Colorado State Patrol said the mortar round was in a 2006 Honda Sedan off Highway 24 at
milemarker 367 near Limon. That portion of the road was closed at 2:33 p.m. and set to reopen at around 4 p.m.
CSP couldn’t say whether the mortar round was live, but as a precaution, authorities treated the situation as such.
A 24-year-old man was arrested. His identity and the charges he could face have not been released.
