Emergency vehicles line I-25 for motorcade procession honoring Deputy Zackari Parrish

A procession began at 8:30 Friday morning, before the funeral for 29-yer-old Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy Zackari Parrish who was killed in the line of duty Sunday morning.

The procession included vehicles from counties all across Colorado spanning over multiple different agencies and even included several vehicles from Iowa and Utah.

The motorcade began at the Plum Creek Parkway exit on I-25, and headed northbound all the way to I-25 and Lincoln. It then headed west to the Cherry Hills Community Church for the funeral.

Dozens of people gathered on the I-25 overlook at Lincoln to pay tribute to the Parrish family.

One person said she has tons of family in law enforcement.

“It really hits close to home,” she said. “You live in fear never knowing if your loved one will make it home.”

Deputy Parrish leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.
