Douglas County gunman livestreamed ambush
The Douglas County gunman who killed one deputy and injured six other people livestreamed the ambush on Periscope.
Periscope is an app that allows users to stream videos live around the world.
The video that has since been taken down shows a dark room with Riehl’s voice. He says, “Go away… go away. Don’t come in. I’ve warned you. Identify.”
It’s followed by what sounds like a gunshot.
“What’s your name,” Riehl says in the stream. Dozens of gunshots are heard ringing out for 10 seconds. It’s followed by the sound of a fire alarm.
The video continues with Riehl yelling at what sounds like officers telling them to, “Go away. Go away.” Then he says, “They broke my door.”
Riehl was later killed by a tactical unit who forced their way into his apartment. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Zackari Parrish died some time during the stream. His funeral is set for Friday, January 5.
The investigation in Douglas County is still ongoing.
