2 missing 9-year-old boys found safe in Teller County

Two 9-year-old boys were found safe Wednesday night after they disappeared for hours in Teller County.

Searchers were setting up an Incident Command post at Sanborn Western Ranch in hopes of finding the boys.

According to Teller County Search and Rescue, the boys went missing around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. The boys were seen walking away from the camp. Foul play wasn’t suspected, but searchers tell KRDO they were being cautious.

The boys were found sometime before 8:30 p.m. They were found by camp counselors, walking back to the main camp area.

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office said it was deploying searchers on ATVs and on horseback. 20 people from the camp were also assisting in the search, and area residents received notifications to be on the lookout.

Sanborn Western Ranch is located 35 miles west of Colorado Springs, and encompasses 6,000 acres of open forest, according to the camp’s website.
