Pueblo Co. commissioners propose limiting household pot plants

Pueblo County Commissioners are trying to add another question to the November ballot dealing with marijuana.

This proposal aims to limit how many marijuana plants people can grow in their homes.

The group behind the proposal hopes to lower it from 99 to 18 with a medical license.

However, since state law is set at 99 plants, if the ballot question passes, the county would have troubles enforcing the law.

Commissioner Sal Pace says the county has been working for years to put pressure on the state and a lot of people around Colorado are looking to do the same.

“I work closely with the Colorado Counties Association, Colorado Municipal League we all feel that the state regulations are too loose for home residential grows,” said Pace.

County commissioners will further discuss the question on September 7. The deadline for ballot issues is September 9.
