COS nonprofit giving out free water filters to affected areas

A local Colorado Springs nonprofit organization is doing their part to help locals living with a contaminated water supply.

The Peterson League is giving out free water filters for those residents in Security, Fountain and Widefield who live within the contaminated water supply area.

The organization has already given out four water filters, and it has six more to give away immediately.

“I have some friends that live in Security Widefield, and I helped them out initially. And through my non-profit, I figured I can just help even more people,” said Palyn Peterson, president of The Peterson League.

In addition to the water filters, the Peterson League is giving each family an educational children’s book to help kids learn how to prevent future environmental disasters.
