Pueblo PD hopes new partnership will help eliminate city crime

Pueblo’s police chief and federal law enforcement officials were in Denver on Monday, promoting their recent partnership.

Both organizations are teaming up to help prevent crime in Pueblo.

The partnership is meant to get violent criminals off the streets and have them sent to federal prison.

The Pueblo Police Department says that since these partnerships formed, crime in Pueblo is down a little more than nine percent.

“I’m very happy with it. I’m very happy with the relationships that our department has built up with all of these respected agencies. And relationships are what make these work,” said Chief Luis Velez.

Pueblo police’s crime fighting team includes the FBI, the DEA and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
