New dinosaur museum opens near Royal Gorge
You can add a new dinosaur museum to the list of attractions near Royal Gorge in Fremont County.
Last month, the Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience opened on U.S. 50 across from the Royal Gorge entrance.
The exhibit features a variety of interior and exterior dinosaur displays, full-scale moving dinosaur figures, a gift shop, special activities for kids, and other attractions.
The Reynolds family of Caon City began planning the museum three years ago after the former Dinosaur Depot closed.
“We want to highlight the rich history of paleontology in this area,” said Zach Reynolds, the museum’s president. “Many noteworthy fossils have been found here. This museum provides more options for families and kids to have fun.”
Reynolds said his family relied on help from the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Research Center in Woodland Park to build the new museum.
