Vietnam veterans finally get pinned at Pueblo Riverwalk

The Home of Heroes gathered around the veteran community on Monday for a Memorial Day tribute.

At the Riverwalk on Monday, a ceremony was held to give special recognition to Vietnam veterans. A group that never got their pin when they first came home finally got the thanks they deserved.

The Young Marines and JROTC presented the veterans with pins and a salute.

Many of the Vietnam veterans say this recognition isn’t just for them but for the people they fought beside that didn’t make it home.

“It feels great to celebrate. And for all my brothers who are here today, we’re still hurting. A lot of our brothers are hurting,” said Luis Ibarra, Vietnam veteran.

Wreaths were also presented at the ceremony in memory of those who were lost. Many of the speakers said it was an honor to see so many people come out for the event.
